To all,

I submitted this earlier probably to the wrong area so I am reposting this message here. Here it goes again.

I got a call from a client site. They are using AREV 2.03 with NLM and Win95.

According to client, they are getting the following message:

]] ...ERRMSG R27 Quickdex.Mfs initialize...<<

This has been occuring within the last month or so. They believe there is a relationship between this message and the use of Microsoft Office Exchange for email. The above problem occur sporadically and generally follows this pattern:

1) they are using AREV

2) they then minimize AREV

3) they bring up Microsoft Office and do their "thing", e.g., email

4) they minimize Microsoft Office

5) they restore their AREV application

6) At this point the above message appears.

At this point, the PC responds very slow to any command and/or keystrokes. It may take them 20 minutes to close down their AREV application. They cannot break to debugger to get rid of this message.

Have anyone seen this? Or know what could be causing the "quickdex" message and slowdown of their PC.

Any input would be appreciated.

They are probably running out of file handles. Have them increase the number of available files in their config.sys to 200
