Well, I have gotten tangled such that when I start OI, I immediately get "OENGINE caused a General Protection Fault in module Oengine.exe at…"

I have a backup that I can get into just fine, but it is kinda old, and I'd like to repair this version if I can as there are several forms, an application and other stuff I'd love to get back. Can anyone give me some direction?

TIA

Paxton,

More than likely you have a corrupted or missing DLL file. After making a backup I would begin replacing all of these files from a working copy of OI or simply transfer your REV*.* files to a new installation of OI.

Hi, Don.

Well, I already tried replacing all the dll's and exe's, no joy. Will try the REV files, but I'm thinking that may be where the corruption is. I had done an application deployment, changed the app name and installed it in the new app. All seemed OK, but I could not find the new app's forms, etc. So, I reindexed the system files, still no luck so I logged out and then could not log back in. I was operating with way too much confidance, did not back the whole thing up before starting. I did several 'dumb' things that, had I been working on a client project, I would not have done. :-(

Oh well, opportunity to learn :-)

Paxton,

System REV*.* files always have the same number so it will be straightforward for your to replace them one at a time or in groups.

If you have AREV I would use it to look for GFE's in these tables. The only table it won't be able to see if SYSREPOS unless you copy it to a regular REV*.* table name and create a REVMEDIA entry for it.

Thanks, Don. Making progress, got into the original now, and am real close. ONly known issue now is there are a couple of forms that show up in SYSREPOSWINS and SYSREPOSWINEXES but I can't get form designer to open them or get them called from my MDI frame. I tried reindexing, and I supposed I may be able to cut and paste them into new forms, so I guess I'm out of the woods unless you have another idea. I'll check for GFE's. Thanks,

Paxton

Paxton,

Sounds like you lost the repository pointers to these forms. Easiest way to restore would be to copy the SYSREPOSWINS record to the clipboard (and then to a text file just in case), create a new, but simple, form using the same name. This will create the repository pointer. Then open the SYSREPOSWINS record again through using the System Editor and replace the existing form definition with the form you copied to the clipboard. Open up the Form Designer and recompile.
