Here is our environment:

Netware 3.12 Server

NT and Win95 Workstations

Arev v3.12

No NLM or NPP installed

Questions

Why are the NT stations coming up with the same station id?

Why is the station id on a Win95 workstation the Computer name and on an NT it is not (MAC address?)? Does Arev handle NT and 95 differently in this respect?

I have read some of the forums and get different opinions on the need for the NPP and NLM. What is the real scoop?

What are the differences in configuring NT vs 95?

Thanks

First off, you'll need the NLM. The NLM is the product of choice on a Novell network. The NPP will work, but it will bring your system to it's knees.

As for how it gets the station ID, the network drivers just ask the operating system for the station ID. Depending on the OS, it will give back the machine name or the station ID or a null or anything. ARev doesn't know about anything other than plain old DOS, so it doesn't treat anything different.
