Did my first test with netware6 from win2k workstation and the result has been real encouraging. A select on a table with 500000 odd rows was less than 1/2 minute. Faster than the results obtained on win95/netware3.12.

Checked to see if protocol stack made a difference. no difference

using vipx.exe dated 04/16

did not change the default autoexec.nt or config.nt.

Problems noticed so far

1) Mouse does not work when using window as opposed to full screen. Thats a win2k issue though.

Have not done any comprehensive testing yet.

If you checked, you'd find that your autoexec.nt contains only lines which load the Novell Dos network drivers versus a case where both the Microsoft and Novell Dos network drivers get loaded apparently due to Novell client install/un-install issues. I've found the latter case happens often. The only Win 2000/XP Novell client install I've done where the right thing happened was when I manaully removed the Microsoft client first (forcing a reboot) before installing the Netware client.

In my experience it was easy to create and remove the slow performance condition simply by enabling/disabling the Microsoft Dos network drivers left in in the autoexec.nt after a Novell client install. I've solved performance problems on several installations by doing this as well (in addition to using the updated VIPX.EXE of course).

I've submitted a bug report to Novell for what it's worth.

what about client(s). which OS? which novell client ver, etc.

All the tests went off fine and then……I found after about 15 - 20 minutes of sitting idle Arev hangs. Anybody dealing with this ?
