This has now happened at 2 sites both running Netware 4.1 and connecting with mixed clients: DOS, Win9x, NT. Both sights have long been very stable. At the first site about 2 weeks ago after having a hard drive failure on the server, repairing the drive and restarting the server, no one could connect ('unable to open boot media map'). We tried the usual solutions: rechecked the client configs although the fact that all were affected made a client problem unlikely; restarted the NLM checked all the LAN connections to ensure nothing had changed and that everybody was indeed connected to the server. After all else failed we restarted the server and rebooted- all workstations and everyone could connect again. Yesterday at a different site at some point mid-morning no one could log into AREV ('NLM not available'). Users that were already logged in were ok. After some brief trouble shooting I had them restart the server and reboot all workstations and then they could all reconnect. Their netadmin insisted no mainte

nance or problems occurred on the server or LAN prior to this.

Since the NLM is running and the users are all connected to the server it sounds like something in the IPX communication is getting hosed but there are no incidents to trace. Anybody have any clues what could be going on?

Thanks
