I am looking for a way to print an Image file, ie - TIF, PDF, to the printer from a DOS PROMPT.

Any help will be muchly appreciated.

One way to do it is to insert the image into Microsoft Word then print the document to a file. For example name the document picture

save it in C then type C:\Type picture.prn]Lpt1

I highly recommend irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com). It is freeware for noncommercial use and works very well from Arev. Many command line options are available to control this Windows application. It can be called from a DOS shell, and there are options to print from a command line. A large number of graphics file formats is supported. Additionally, many plugins are available.

I use this product to manage a database I have of photographs. I can scroll through the database in Arev, and the images popup up in one or more windows as I browse through the file. I haven't tried printing anything because I generally print only after doing a lot of retouching, so I'm in the graphics program anyway.

Check it out. I think you'll like it. It's small and fast, and the price is right.

No Cut and paste, no clicking, just a command!! :)

Many thanks for your input, as we tried it with a TIF file and it worked well.

Do you know of any product beside adobe.reader that will print a PDF file format from the DOS prompt????
