Arev and Dial Up Networking (AREV Specific)

Trying to Dial into an NT Server using Dial Up Networking does not work. Before you even get the Arev.exe launched you get a locking issue.
I have an NT4 Server (service pack 3 or 4…. same problem)
Win98 and Win95 Workstations
The problem is Dial-up Networking. It is setting Locks on the Arev.exe and somtimes effectively locks itself out. If you watch the resources on the NT Server you will see a Read Resource and then an Execute resource on the Arev.exe. The Read resource doesn't clear and so stops the Execute. If you manualy clear the Read Arev will start.
Unfortunately the Arev.exe is locked and so no one else on the network can start Arev.
Has anyone else got any idea's on how to fix this or some other solution using a twin ISDN to connect to an NT Server?
Unfortunately I cannot use PC anywhere as i have to attach a Local Dataset.
FYI, By the way using a Twin ISDN link is fast enough to run Arev. It is obviously slower than a hard wire link but it is useable.

The NT RAS dialup service uses ini files to hold phone book entries. Ensure that the RAS dial-up ini is not being confused with the AREV ini somehow.

First, if you use dial-up, they must at least be running WINS.
Set your LMHOSTS to their IP, right click on your NW Nbrhd, find the
computer, then map a drive (the SAME letter they use). Now it'll work. Works even better if you set up PPTP (VPNs). Works even better if you use RConsole and run AREV as a service instead of everything coming over the wire to your computer.
