I would like to upgrade a site from 3.4 to 3.5.

Currently the oengine.run version is for 20+ users.

The oengine.dev is for 2 (Developers)

If upgrading to with the oengine.dev do I need to

do anything to the run engine version?

BC,

Don't know, but at least here we found we had to upgrade our multi-user runtime engines between 3.3 and 3.61. But we went directly from 3.3 to 3.61, so we don't know exactly at which version the change happened.

(We must admit it took a little time before it dawned on us why our 3.61 multi-user runtimes wouldn't run. And when we realized they might have become to old I tried to ask about the problem here on this list (or was it the Works list?), but got no useful reply. So you might not get any response either. We got help from our local distributor and it really wasn't difficult at all. It's just oengine.exe that's affected, so to upgrade e.g our 4-user runtime engine from 3.3 to 3.61 we just took any old 3.3 we had, swapped in the 3.3 runtime engine, ran the upgrades we got through Works (3.4, 3.5 and 3.61), and from the resulting 3.61 took oengine.exe which now had become a 3.61 4-user runtime engine. But you probably know all about this upgrading stuff - it's just us here in Norway that is silly (note grammatical error just to show how silly we is). :-)

BC,

Remeber: Always back up before you upgrade!

The upgrade should transfer the license information that you have in both the EXE and the RUN versions of the engine.

Cameron,

What if one has further versions, let's say 1-user dev, 1-user run, 2-user run and 4-user run. Can one do all of them in one go, or does the upgrade just look for oengine.exe and oengine.run?

That is a confusing question. You have a whole bunch of different engines in one directory? If so, only the oengine.exe and (if it is a dev copy) the oengine.run are updated.

Cameron,

No, I haven't got all those engines in one OI directory. I'm afraid OI would run too fast then. :-) But it really would be nice if one could upgrade several engines in one go, let's say upgrade every file with a name oengine.*). I recently had to upgrade three different engines, each through three steps (3.3 to 3.61), and I think that's what made me ask the question. Still confused? :-)
