We get quite a few empty task bar windows, on Windows 98.
They have no text ,and if you click on them they close and disappear.
Any idea what may cause this and how to get rid of it?
Thanks

Hi Colin
I am sure this is a microsoft problem. It happens on PCs that do not have OI (or arev) installed.
Possible Solutions
1. Click on the empty tasks and they disappear (as you said)
2. Install a service Pack for Win98 - this may fix the problem. It may break something else.
3. Check Microsoft's knowledge base for ideas. This is your best bet.
4. Go back to Win95.

This is not guaranteed to fix the issue, because I have this same problem on occasion running Win95.
I think it is related to a memory issue where the paint/repaint calls do not occur correctly. When you click on the button in the taskbar, this calls the paint/repaint functions, thus cleaning up your display.

Going back to Win95 is not an option.
I will see if I can find a patch for Win98 from MS (hmmm!!!)

Colin,
Perhaps you can take your problem to the discussion forum at .
If you think it's a matter of keeping your Windows (or other software) up to date you may try .
