Physical Error Writing 12798 in file INVOICES—FS152—————————————-
The control record "RECORDS"is too long to be saved. The current record length is 65535 characters.
ESC to terminate, Break to debugger? (ESC/B)

the result is that these invoices are not being indexed, so it is not possible to do an F2 search of all the invoices of a customer and have the new invoices appear for that customer.
Is there a way to repair this 'record length thing' without doing a backup restore?
Thank you.

Take the Quickdex/rightdex off the file - it will still save but records will no longer appear insorted order in the popip without additional work. This is a limitation of how rightdex/quickedex works and cannot be got around easily.
F5 - DICT FILE - F6 - quickdex

Dear Andrew
Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure how to do the removal of the F5 -Dict File - F6 -quickdex that you mention.
If you could give more detailed instructions on how to do that it would be appreciated,
Thanks
Tom

If you have TCL access (press F5 and see if you get a rectangular window) then type in
:DICT FILENAME
where filename is your file name
then press F6 and choose Quicdex. It will then ask if you wush to remove it, say yes, and Bob's your uncle…

Thanks,
That seemed to work, at least in terms of getting rid of the error message when I tried to save the invoices.
I tried to delete all the invoices which were corrupted, about 30, and when I do an F2 search on customer, the Alt-D, deleted invoices still show up, how do I get rid of them?

Tom

Dear Andrew,
Thanks for the feedback,
I ran the above delete %invoices% and it said "1 record deleted". I then checked my list of invoices for that customer, and the record I had deleted was still there. – then I did a rebuild on the indexed file and it dissapeared.
I tried to reinstall the quickdex, but I got an error (listed below). Then, when I do an F2 to look for all the previous for a patient it tells me that there are no invoices for that person. Is there a way to create and attach a new "Invoices" file?
When I tried to put the quickdex back on the data file and it gave me a the following error:
'LRDEX.SUB' line 3. B703 Variable exceeds maximum length.
Line 3 'LRDEX.SUB' broke because a runtime error was encountered.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help and very fast responses.
Sincerely yours,
Tom

A quickdex/rightdex is a very specific index implementation which is only designed for files with Sprezzatura Ltd[/url]
