When using Catalyst to build queries, I believe I now understand the various 'help' and 'option' choices I have and how to use them. The thing which I would want to do and can't find out how to, is placing an 'extended query prompt' at the bottom of the screen - right on the lower border, just like where the default value message appears (or, if not there, any other reliably available place on the window). Is there a way?

This is field 55 in @ENVIRON.SET if you wish to change this programatically.

Border prompting is unfortunately a small part of the answer. Border prompting displays the prompt label - which may not do you any good. Better perhaps to check out http://www.sprezzatura.com/revmedia/v3i8a14.htm and play with this.
