I need some information on data warehouse. I'm looking for tools/data warehouse product to enable my applications do some checking. Currently, I have a few applications that developed using different software namely UNIX/INFORMIX, FOXPRO, LOTUS-NOTES and AREV.

Here are the different alternatives of the process that I plan to develop :

1) Each system needs to access to each other on real-time process.

 Example :

 The AREV application will get the tools as a medium to communicate    with other applications simultaneously and extract customer info    from the applications. Vice versa for other applications.

2) The tool will pull all customer info from those applications and store it. Thus, the different applications will do checking by accessing the tool and extract the info.

The total # of records for those applications are about 200K - 400K.

If u have any info, pls provide company/vendors' name and contact no.

Sounds as though OI's data warehousing might be just the ticket. Can you be a little more specific?

Arev does not have any method of data warehousing or accessing other data systems data. Arev does have a Sql connection which you can write various processes with (we wrote processes using Arev and Sybase .. I believe they were working on an oracle connection but do not know where that ended up.)

As an alternative you could use OpenInsight and its warehousing feature in conjunction with Arev.

As for the other tools you mentioned .. some work better than others.

It seems as if you are looking for a tool which will do all of these things. I hate to tell you this but there is no such tool.

You will need a tool for FoxPro, Notes, and Arev (or OI if you want to simply) and your Informix.

Once again .. OpenInsight does handle data warehousing. It may also be able to handle the Notes data as OI works as a front end to Notes.

If you have specifics of what you are trying to do it will be much easier to give you good ideas/directions.

Here is my explaination of my process flows.

I need to have a tool to enable the applications access to one to another applications. Example :

A customer buys a product and I key-in his IC No into AREV application. Previously, he has bought different product which I keyed-in his IC No to different applications, UNIX/INFORMIX appl

Thus, the tool (if I have!!) will act as a medium to replicate the customer IC No from AREV appl. Then, the tool will access to UNIX/INFO application, search, match the IC No and extract the customer info.

Finally, the tool will replicate the info and transfer it to AREV appl
