We have a client running Arev 3.12 on a NetWare 3.2 network with the Arev NLM. They receive a "Fatal error writing FNAME**SUZANNE, Linear Hash Client Server, No Server Response" message when trying to rebuild one specific btree index. There are several other btree indexes on this same file as well as other files with btree indexes on them, all of which rebuild without error. A verifylh runs clean on the file. We have tried the rebuild operation from a few different windows machines and even DOS machine and we get the same error no matter what. We have also tried a machine with a patch cable connected directly from the hub to the workstation – so I don't suspect cabling.
Any suggestions?

Is the error message always SUZANNE or does it change based on the user? If it's always SUZANNE then you've got a damaged link-list pointer which can't be traversed to rebuild the index. If it's different, then somehow the Sort is generating the error. Can you do a copytable to a safe place (complete with the index)? If you can, then you ought to be able to remove the indexes from the copy and then replace the damaged one with the copied, but unindexed one. You should then be able to put the indexes on fresh.

It is always SUZANNE – I will try your fix, thank you.
