In AREV 2.12 we got a GFE in the verbs file. While trying to dump it & clean it up, it locked. Attempts to re-enter AREV (both before & after restoring from tape, so much for back-ups) give the error:

"GET_TEXT_PARMS Loading Error during WINDOW Loading Error" after the 5th dot executes in the "Processing, Please Wait " on the welcome screen (isn't this initialization?)

Anyone experience this before? We would appreciate any assistance/direction.

Brian,

If you restored it from a backup made when the system was still working, it should definitely work! :P

I would try restoring the backup to a separate drive and or computer–preferably not the server–and see if you can run it from there. If yes, I would:

1. Delete the corresponding directory (not its children directories!) of the non-functional copy

2. Copy the working-copy directory (once again, sans children) over into the now empty non-functional directory

3. Try running it now.

If it still doesn't work, then there must be some sort of file in one of the child-directories that gets attached at initialization-time that has some massive error in it that somehow wasn't replaced by the backup. You can try using the (hopefully) functional copy to attach to that location and hopefully fix the file, or just delete it and then either remake or replace it.

Don't forget to make sure the files are not being held open by some other process on the server.

Let me know what happens

I just read your response after we completed exactly the steps you suggested, now we're getting an "Unable to open boot media map" error.

(We had the login disabled & everyone disconnected from the server during the back-up)

Any ideas?
