My new 3.6mhz system with SATA drives runs great, except for AREV. I've been through all the posts about enabling EMS, and can't get there, but I've done the generally suggested pif and config.nt changes. I have a utility that lets me see disk throughput, and when I do something like SELECT BIGFILE, it starts out with 30-40mb/sec, then drops down to under 2mb/sec. Interesting, different settings for the compatibility mode gets me longer or shorter good I/O performance, but it always slows down to a drag after 3-15 seconds.

The entire select takes about 3 minutes on the new box. On my old system, Windows 2K 1.4mhz and much slower drives, it runs in under 20 seconds. BIG difference.

Wondering if anyone else has seen this problem or has suggestions.
