Hello all,

I'm new to the AREV/MV world but tasked to replicate a production environment of an AREV application such that we can have a sandbox area to test enhancements to the application. To keep things simple, I'm hoping to do a bulk copy of the entire AREV dir and subdirs and place a AREV_DEV dir on the same hardware and root directory.

I've crawled these boards a lot and seen tidbits like 'remove & re-create all indexes', etc., but I'm wondering if:

a) there may be a utility available to help with this

b) a native CMD that might assist in this process.

We're not concerned with keeping the data synched…if we can do a one-time capture of the application as-is and subsequently play in a safe environment, we're happy.

Thanks in Advance!

It should work with

a) The copy you describe

b) A new license to cover this new copy

Nothing else should be required UNLESS your app hardcodes non-relative paths.

If copied just to a subdirectory on the same server, won't the AREV licensing engine keep things straight? Or does that only work on Netware?

btw - if doing this, you may need to use two ROOT mapped directories on the main server, depending on how your file attaches and volume definitions are done (otherwise, you may run a second copy of code in the revboot volume, but end up attaching all the same code and data if the attaches include the full path).
