Printing to USB printer... (AREV Specific)

I've installed a USB printer. It is setup under Win98 as the default printer. When I print from my AREV application the printer attached to my parallel port (lpt1) prints instead of the USB attached printer.
How do I force my AREV application to print to my USB printer?
Thanks,
John

John,
As a DOS application AREV can only print to LPT ports. Unless there is a special way of doing this that I am unaware of I don't believe this will work for you. Does your printer user's manual give you any kind of information on how to print from DOS?

John,
PC Magazine have an article at
http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,917112,00.html
which makes reference to a parallel port-]USB adapter from
Entrega Technologies Inc. of Lake Forest, Calif.
(originally at + 1 949 859 8866 http://www.entrega.com)
Enquiries reveal this company has since been bought out
by Xircom, +1 805 3769300 who no longer stock it.
There doesn't appear to be any other solution, either by way of device driver or printer driver to make available USB print devices from DOS parallel ports under Windows.
There are USB to centronics (older parallel printers)adapters available however:
http://www.aten.com.tw/uc1284.htm
http://www.usbmax.com/usbmax/6.html
There are recent comp.windows.misc comp.periphs.printers and alt.windows98 newsgroup postings which suggests the utility file prnter10.zip from http://shareware.cnet.com (use the site search feature) may solve the problem, (try PDISK PRN from AREV) but there seems to be some dispute about its effectiveness.
We'll keep you posted if any solutions come to light.

We have developed a VB app which you might find useful.
The VB app takes the printer output from AREV and processes it through Windows. By using the Windows printer object, it allows AREV to print to any printer, connected to any port or network queue. It also allows you to use consistent printer control codes for all printers.
In order to use the program you will need access to your AREV applications source code.
