I have tried increasing the IPX sockets in the clients network settings but this has not made any difference at all.

Usually it's not a good idea to put indexing on any system tables (particularly SYSOBJ). Can you start AREV in the SYSPROG account?

If so, you can edit REVMEDIA to remove the Quickdex and then delete the %RECORDS% row from SYSOBJ. Be sure you make a copy of SYSOBJ and REVMEDIA before you fiddle with them.

Also, how do i edit REVMEDIA to remove the QUICKDEX (not even sure that there is 1 on there…)

Thanks for your help.

Very carefully! First, make a backup:

From DOS:

COPY REVMEDIA.LK REVMEDIA.LK1

COPY REVMEDIA.OV REVMEDIA.OV1

Then start AREV and from the TCL:

EDIT DOS REVMEDIA.LK

Look for SYSOBJ and see if there is either a SI.MFS or QUICKDEX entry in the record. If so, use the DEL key to remove and save the record with F9. If you don't find it in the .LK portion, Look in the .OV portion. There used to be a utility floating around called REVMEDIA_DOCTOR which had a number of components. If you E-Mail me with your address, I'll see if I can find it and E-Mail it to you.

The only thing on the SYSOBJ line when i "EDIT DOS REVMEDIA.LK" is:

SYSOBJ*GLOBALREV46001

And when i "EDIT DOS REVMEDIA.OV" there is nothing in there at all.

???

You should see SYSOBJ with a REVnnnn beside it. If you see a SI.MFS or QUICKDEX in the right column then you need to fix the REVMEDIA table to remove any indexes there. If you're lucky and keep your applications and data files in different subdirectories, you can sometimes copy a known good copy of REVMEDIA.LK / OV over the damaged one (providing the tables in both copies are just about the same). I have a utility to fix a blown media map by making sure that any items in the Media Map have corresponding DOS file names, and to add DOS file names that are not in the media map. This, combined with a utility to edit the media map has proved useful many times. Let me know if you need copies.
