I recently upgraded to an NT server. I am using AREV 2.12.

I cannot however print to a network printer.

Is the only way to print is after using the NET USE command? Is there anything more direct?

Mina, assuming that you are on a WinNT Server with W95 Workstations,

try the following:

If you Start-Run-command.com and then at the DOS prompt

NET USE LPT1: "\\Servername\Sharename" /PERSISTENT:YES

eg.

NET USE LPT1: "\\Melbourne\HP Laserjet 4" /PERSISTENT:YES

Then run AREV and try print something

Also try unchecking the "Print from DOS" on the AREV shortcut

- this setting is counterintuitive - but try it anyway.

The network printers need to be set to capture to LPT1 otherwise they won't be

seen. On installation you are asked whether you wish to use the printer with DOS

apps and you must respond "Yes". (Can't remember whether it does ask this with

network printers but you definitely need to capture to a port).

pieces of information.
