I have a "Dev"elopment copy of OI16-3.75 on my local machine-single user copy with "All Networks Driver Ver. 1.5.0.0" installed . I have a "Run"time copy of OI16-3.75 - 256 user copy with "All Networks Driver Ver. 1.5.0.0" on a network server. I'm running Windows 2000 with NT service 1.5 running on the network server…. All is working good.

When I upgrade only my Dev. machine to OI32 I select the all networks driver 1.5. After the upgrade I can not "see" the data tables in the two subdirectories out on my network server anymore. The REVPARAM file with "ServerOnly=True" is located in these two subdirectories. I can "see" other directories on the server if they don't have the REVPARAM file. If I delete the REVPARAM file in these 2 directories the Database Manager can "see" the data tables again. Of course these two subdirectories need the REVPARAM file since the Runtime OI needs that.

Again, everything is working fine before I upgrade my development machine… has anyone else ecxperienced this or better yet have a solution???

I really need to keep my Development OI on my local machine.

TIA

This has something to do with drive mappings and local verses networked access. What you'll need to do is map your local drive to a network drive and access the development copy from there. This should do the trick for you.

I hate to sound and look like a complete idiot…but..

Do you mean I can keep my development OI on my local machine

but "map" it so it looks like I am accessing it on the network?

If this is what you mean can you give me a BIG hint on how to

do that??? (;])}

Thanks

I set the properties to my local OI directory to share and mapped

a network drive "w" to my local directory. When I started OI from drive W. I got "All Network Driver 2.0.0.2 unable to access linear hash files Error - FS231 File=1". I wonder where the "All Network Driver 2.0.0.2" came from since when I upgraded to OI32 my choices were "1.5" and "2.1" and I selected "1.5"

It appears that the LH.DLL is the same for both the 1.5 and the 2.1 NPP. However, the RCLCLNT.DLL changes as you change network drivers. Ensure that the RCLCLNT.DLL is the same size as the RCLNT15.DLL file. That will set the network driver to 1.5

On my system, when I run with the 2.1 driver I'll get an FS1104 error on group 1100 when I try and run OENGINE.EXE. Most likely this is because the 2.1 NPP is not backwards compatible with the 1.5 NT Service. I wouldn't have expected it to be either. It's why they shipped them both :)

What does OE report it is using as the network driver?

Incidentally, you'll lose this handy feature (mapping a local drive to a network drive) if you move to XP. The only way to get it back is to install the loopback adapter. It's worth doing, as I find it much easier to have my Rev work done on my X drive. This way I don't get confused as I move from machine to machine.

I searched both my local and network drives for the files RCLCLNT.DLL and RCLNT15.DLL and can't find either. The only thing close that I have is RCLNPCLI.DLL. Am I missing something???

I found the RCLCLNT.DLL and RCLNT15.DLL in the OI directory after upgrading to OI32 again. RCLCLNT.DLL is the same size as RCLNT15.DLL .

OENGINE.exe does show the network driver as 1.5, so why do I get the "All Network Driver 2.0.0.2 unable to access linear hash files Error - FS231 File=1" error msg? I mapped my local drive to a network drive, still no luck… copied revparam into the directory… still no luck…. The OENGINE does start ok… but when OINSIGHT starts I get the FS errors.

I've got to get this system working. I got other departments to pitch in for the $2,500 upgrade to OI32 and NT service 2.1 and can't even successfully upgrage one part, my local development copy, which I thought would be the easiest. I'm having to forgo the Vegas trip since our budget is zip, I had the choice to upgrade or go to Vegas…

I felt the upgrade was a no brainer… now that's what I feel like I have.. no more brain.. If anyone can figure this one out I would greatly appreciate it.

I got my problem corrected with my development local OI32 working with my Network data tables.

I started from scratch again and upgraded from OI16 (3.75) to OI32.

I started OI32 and had the same problems. Then I ran NETDRV.EXE and changed the driver to 2.1. Tried starting OI32 and again had the same problems. Ran NETDRV.EXE again and changed BACK to 1.5…. THIS DID THE TRICK…. Starting OI32 now and everything seems to be working ok.

Well, glad it's working. I think there was something with those files not being there, but it's too late to really determine that.
