I am under the following scenario and would like a solution:

1 - We have an A/REV DB residing on a Windows NT 4.0 Server and acting as a shared DB application for client workstations

2 - We also have OI 3.4 installed on our development Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

3 - We plan to use MS Access 97 and ODBC for our project in mind

My question is:

How do I create an ODBC data source that connects to our A/REV DB over the OI interface, so that our MS Access 97 front-ends can get to the A/REV DB?

Thank you for your time, and _please_ E-mail me all your responses.

There is no method of data access (odbc, native drivers etc) to OI from other window applications.

You may use dll calls or dde to get data from OI but that is about it.

OI, Arev etc are 'CLOSED' environments.

You can access environments from OI (any with supporting 16big odbc, native drivers).

You won't be able to create a data source directly to the linear hash data. What you CAN do is warehouse your linear hash data into another database structure (in your case you've decided MS Access) so that you can get at it with the Access front-end. You can also set up a timer on the warehousing so that it updates the LH data to the Access version of the tables at your specified time intervals.

Read this (Using the data Warehousing Feature in OI) document.
