Hi all

A client has just upgraded from NT4 to Server 2000 and all is running pretty well - except - when we run a report (Report Designer) on a workstation it hangs (Not Responding on Task Manager) - if we wait long enough - 5 minutes it sometimes completes.

On further debugging it seems that the report is run as a result of a coded query and that the hanging is caused by the Rlist statement rather than the reporter - WOWEXEC has reared its head again and I think that the report completes when WOWEXEC task is ended - still testing.

Any help or clues gratefully recieved please

Hi all

More investigation shopw apparent coincidence re Server 2000 as the problem also occurs on NT4 which we know was working before. We also recreated the application by installing fresh OI 3.7 and appbackupped the application on to it - all running fine.

It would now seem after some debugging that the problem is in querying a particular table using the RLIST statement. THe table checks out OK and is correctly indexed.

We will continue the quest and let you know.

OK

A whole day later

It is in fact an index on a date field that is causing the query to stop responding. REmoving the index for the date solves the problem. Have checked all the data and all rows have a correct internal date.

Curiously the query (Rlist statement) will function properly on the server itself.

Any clues folks?
