Are there any parameters i should be using in the revparam files on a 2pc Win98 network.

Also I have a situation where there is LPT1 local and LPT2 network(PC2). Every now and then a print selected for LPT2 will go to LPT1.

Any ideas, Any known problems with Win98 networks and AREV.

The client's hardware guy is trying to tell the client it is their problem because they are trying to run a 16bit app on a 32bit system and should NOT be running DOS programs.

Barry,

Are you using the NPP?

We Have a number of Win98/98 and Win95/98 2PC networks and we've never had this problem. Only I can offer two areas to look at:

1. Is the network printer capturing a lpt port or is it just sending to a queue?

2. Has the printer been installed so it caters for DOS applications?

Couple of things:

Make sure write-behind caching is disabled on all workstations including the server.

I assume you're using the NPP driver - this is a must!

In your REVPARAM file set the following:

FlushFileSizeUpdates=True

FlushAllUpdates =True

CacheFlushLocks =True

If you have a problem with stray data characters appearing in the last field of a file,

FillChar=0xFF

As for the printer issue, make sure that the printer is properly configured to print MS-DOS jobs and that a port is captured rather than a queue name only.

We have several of these networks running and have had no problems at all. As for their hardware guy, he's full of …..
