Can anyone explain or cure this one?

Accessing client system via dial-up (so rural here we can't get broadband!) via their load-balanced Citrix servers to OI 4.1.3 on their server.

When I tried to run a RDKMODULEINSTALL update I got FS109 error when it tried to attach the SYSUPGRADE volume on the remote CD-ROM drive here. The system could see the volume and files.

I then copied the volume to the server and tried accessing the upgrade there. Same result (FS109).

In case something had got trashed I copied the volume back here and tried it on a local copy. Volume was OK.

I then went into the system editor on the client system and used the Exec: line to ATTACH_TABLE the copy on the server. Worked fine.

I then tried running the RDKMODULEINSTALL again it came up with SSP248 (SYSUPGRADE*GLOBAL record missing from Revmedia).

So I went back to the system editor and used COPY_ROW to copy the records from the SYSUPGRADE on the server - with no problems.

TIA for any ideas or suggestions.

Richard,

I'm not sure I have any ideas but I'm curious as to why you are running RDKMODULEINSTALL directly as opposed to RDKINSTALL.

Have you tried putting a debug version of RDKMODULEINSTALL in the SYSUPGRADE table to see exactly where this error occurs? Everything seems to point to some difficulty in accessing the volume completely. The question is, "why?"

Yes, thanks - you're right. I do use RDKINSTALL but if you look at the code it doesn't do much but copy %RUN% to $RDKMODULEINSTALL and then run it. As far as I know the initial FS109 can only be ATTACH_TABLE and this must be happening before the %RUN% is copied.

Indeed, if there's no wise man out there with the answer, the next step must be to put in some diagnostics and maybe experiment a bit. A real bore as it's only via the dial-up that this happens.

There seems no reason why the SYSUPGRADE volume should attach fine via system editor but not from RDKINSTALL.

If/when I find out why, I'll post it - but I'm away from base for a week and it may have to wait.
