Can the Close (x) button be disabled when running AREV 3.12 from a windowed display icon. We're currently running AREV from win98 workstations connected to a Netware 5.0 server running the NLM v5.

When a user exits AREV by clicking the Close button (out of habit) NLM.STATS doesn't appear to remove the AREV session at the server. This can cause problems, ex: an index is in use when the user exits. The session is left open until the user logs out of the network.

Not directly, but we do two things here to try to keep our sanity (we have had exactly the same problem with the NLM that you describe).

1. Start AREV in Full Screen Mode (not in a window). This removes the "X", etc. Yeah..the user can hit ALT+Enter to put it in a window and defeat this, but that's windoze.

2. Make sure the "Warn If Active" item is checked in the Misc Properties of the shortcut.

If you're starting AREV from a batch file (which I assume you are) then it should terminate LHIPXTSR when AREV exits (normally only, though). The problem is a training issue which they must learn to live with.

We've found that if you look at the shortcut properties, Misc tab and set Mouse to Exclusive mode, users can't click on the close button as the mouse is tied to the DOS session. This might work for you too.
