Can RBASIC source code be generated from a OI3.5 Reporter report?

I want to print (to paper) bitmap pictures from an rbasic subroutine.

Thanks…. Steve C.

I don't believe that Reporter generates RBasic code since it's a separate tool that is not written in OpenInsight (It's in either C or VB and all work on it is contracted out by RevSoft).

The free solution is to work some more with the Reporter so that the report format you get will do what you want and then you start reporter from a program with the right select statement.

If Reporter doesn't cut it then there is a 3rd party piece of software that does. It is specifically meant to fill in the gaps the OpenInsight has as far as printing . Go to this webpage: http://www.pacifier.com/~splaver/ and look for OIPI .

It's not free ($445 I believe), but it's the easiest way to print pictures and come up with any format you want straight from OI.

The Reporter does not generate Basic+ code.

Printing graphics really depends on the printer. If you can get to the control codes, it's a simple matter of sending the proper commands. Some printers will let you pass in the file bit by bit. Others want the file downloaded to the printer and it will print then.

You might want to look at MSDN and see about accessing the print API's directly. You might be able to pass in the file name and let Windows do most of the work.

I don't know if this helps, but check out the Knowledge Base article on RevRpt.
