Since our client changed from Novell to NT, we can no longer use the @username variable in AREV.

We are now extracting the network user name by writing the value returned by %username% variable to a text file via a dos batch file. This works perfectly in an NT workstation, but it doesn't work in a Windows 95 nor in W98 workstation.

Any suggestions?

Nerissa,

My understanding is that under 95/NT the @STATION value contains the user name instead of just the NIC address, provided you are not using Novell Clients to access the server.

Give that a try.

Pipe out a NET CONFIG to a test file, and read that. I've got a programme to do just that, if you would like a copy - email me

You may use 95/98/NT boxes and still extract the user name from

@station

I am using it now in serveral apps.
