I am supporting a 255 user ARev 2.12 system running on Novell 4.83SP2, running the NLM and they have a dedicated indexer pc. From about 3 months ago, they have been getting errors like the following at about 7.20pm some Tuesday nights:

Fatal error reading *INDEXES in file !nnnnnnn

FS181

Linear Hash Client/Server

Server file open error

File name "NNNNNN\REV20988.OV

They have Arcserve backup running at 7pm every night with the Open File Agent loaded on the server. We have tried changing the backup time to 6am and we still had the error at 7.20pm on the Tuesday. And Arcserve has been running for several years. Every other night is fine and it is not every Tuesday that we get an error. A reboot sorts it out but as they do not have IT support cover overnight, they lose quite a few hours of indexing overnight. Most of the workstations have been upgraded to XP over the last few months (not without speed issues but now resolved).

Is there a scheduled virus scan?

You need to make sure you virus scanner is set to ignore *.LK and *.OV files as they can cause issues with ARev applications if they try and scan these guys.
