I'm trying to edit an OI table in AREV 3.12. Using the AREV command

ATTACH C:\REVSOFT\OINSIGHT\DATAVOL @ TCL I can successfully view the table using LISTVOLUME C:\REVSOFT\OINSIGHT\DATAVOL. If I try to edit the table I receive the error msg below:

  The MARCDATA table is not available.

-FS401——————————–

          The "MARCDATA" table

    has not been created or attached.

From reading other postings on this forum I thought OI tables could be edited, indexes updated, etc. from AREV.

Any help would be appreciated.

You certainly can use AREV 3.x to edit OI tables. For this to work, however, you need to be able to attach the table. Make sure that the OI app is defined in AREV or make sure that the owner of the table is GLOBAL. If not, then use SETALIAS to create a temporary pointer to SYSALIAS and then EDIT SYSALIAS …

If you're going to do a lot of this, it's easier to define the APP in AREV so that you can attach directly to tables. A side benefit will allow you to edit OI tables as well .. perhaps fixing a damaged SYSUPGRADE table.
