Indexing not being updated (AREV Specific)

We are using version AREV 1.16 which has worked very well for 10 years. Recently the indexes are not being automatically updated. I don't understand the entire process but I guess what happens as a station is idle it will do an update. I now have to go into tools and update the indexing manually. How can I check to see where the problem is. Any suggestions.

Is there a possibility that one of the machines used to be dedicated to indexing and that this machine is no longer switched on?

We still have the same number of connections as we have always had. When this system was originally setup I was not involved with it. When you say that a particular machine is dedicated to the indexing, does this mean a particular login? I recently went through the login names and changed some and renamed others. How would I check if the login name was dedicated for the indexing.
Thanks

Depending on how your system is set up….
Individual AREV users have specific behaviours associated with them, one of these behaviours is whether the user should perform background indexing. It is common practice to set most users NOT to do background updating and have one dedicated AREV login that performs all background indexing.
The way you say "Don't index" is to set the "Delay before indexing" parameter to 1. The way you say "Be dedicated" is to set the "Delay before indexing" parameter to 1.
The easiest way to see which is which is to go into the SYSPROG account and examine the individual user's environment settings.

Should read
The way you say "Don't index" is to set the "Delay before indexing" parameter to 0. The way you say "Be dedicated" is to set the "Delay before indexing" parameter to 1
