I am using Arev 3.12 with NLM 5.0 with Novell 5.0 SP2

I am sick and tired of all these problems with Arev connecting to Novell. I mean we cannot use the latest SP or Novell Client or even Novell 5.1. And now I can't run Arev under my Win2000. I am forced to use Win98 with Novell client 3.1.

So I am considering of switching from Novell 5.0 to Win2000 Server. What kind of problem is there for using the NPP ? Will we have the above problems ?

Thanks,

Rudhy

Rudhy,

First of all, you would be using the NPP and the NT Service. The ability to connect is much nicer than with Novell. No problems with client drivers.

Just be sure to use the NT service if you use Windows 2000. The NPP by itself will prove disappointing and may lead to other sidebar issues such as GFE's. You shouldn't have the same kind of infrastructure issues that you can have with NLM / Novell / Client32 vis-a-vis various desktop configurations. We spend about 50% of our support time on this stuff rather than on our application. Gets pretty expensive.
