Adam,

Could you elaborate on the problem? How is ARev not working? Which of our networking products are you using? What client resides on the Win98 workstations?

Adam,

Are you using our networking products? If not, we strongly recommend that you obtain one due to the problems associated with using Win95/98/NT workstations and we cannot support your environment without them.

From the FAQ

What do all the dots signify when logging in?

Each dot indicates successful completion of the startup and initialization processes.

1. The media map for the Revboot volume is opened, the SYSOBJ file is opened, the memory filing systems are initialized and the user count is checked.

2. The user or account information is stored into memory

3. You are prompted for the user or account password.

4. VOC, DICT.VOC and SYSOBJ are attached and the logon verb and attach images are read into memory.

5. If applicable, the attach image is used.

6. The Revboot volume is attached

After the 6th dot, INITIALIZE is executed, executing the logon verb and setting up the environmental areas.

So I'd check the files in REVBOOT for completeness and integrity.

Also, flag *.* -T in the REVBOOT directory, flag AREV.EXE read-only and the other files READ-WRITE-SHAREABLE

Try logging into Novell using NDS-BIND as the Novell client option.

If you have the correct AREV network driver set (say Advanced Netware) then this might just get you in.

The use of the networking products is recommended for file integrity, but you should be able to at least execute AREV "out-of-the-box".

Arev looks for LPT1, make sure a printer is defined in Win98.
