I never really found a solution to my printer problem which I posted on the AREV Specific group. I can add a printer and test print and print from any Windows application, but I cannot successfully print from AREV. We are on a WNT server and W95 workstations. I have set up a printer on one of the w/s successfully and have set up file/print sharing for that w/s. I have set up printers on the other w/s, configuring the printer to be networked and using the former w/s printer. I have also selected MS DOS printing when setting up the other w/s for the printer, however, I cannot seem to be able to print from these other w/s. Again, I can print from these other w/s on any Windows applications, etc. and the printing to the network printer is no problem, but I can't print within AREV.

I either get a message "Quit or Retry Printer not Found" message or the printout goes through, but the printer Q shows that it is spooling. It essentially stays in the spooling mode. I have adjusted the properties of the network printer and the Printer Config. within AREV, but with the same results.

Any further ideas would be extremely helpful.

Frank, if you Start-Run-command.com and then at the DOS prompt

NET USE LPT1: "\\Servername\Sharename" /PERSISTENT:YES

eg.

NET USE LPT1: "\\Melbourne\HP Laserjet 4" /PERSISTENT:YES

Then run AREV and try print something

Also try unchecking the "Print from DOS" on the AREV shortcut

- this setting is counterintuitive - but try it anyway.

Thanks. You mentioned that before when I had posted the message earlier on the Advanced Rev section, but I didn't remove the "Print from DOS.' This seems to have solved the problem. BTW, I didn't include the PERSISTENT:YES. I couldn't seem to get it to work, but apparently, I didn't need it Thanks again.
