Disappearing Form (OpenInsight Specific)

to all,
Just curious, but I made a new form by using an existing form. That is, I did a Save-As (done this many time before). Stripped out data bound related information since this new form would be data bound to another table. Made appropriate changes. Ran several tests. Everything was going great. Made some more changes. Then when I wanted to test the form again the form was all distorted. But when I went back to form designer I could no longer see the form under Form designer. Yikes! It disappeared, but I could see the form name.
After a couple of hours, I just redid it and now everything is okay.
However, I'm just curious does any one have a clue as to what might have happened – oversight on my part or whatever.
Thanks,
Ray

I have seen something similar, and this may or may not be what you have experienced, with distorted and then missing controls.
The controls (at least in my experience) are in fact there.
Each control has an X-Y coordinate for their starting position.
If you use System Editor and look in SYSREPOSWINS you can see them.
On occasion I have seen these X and Y coordinates as negative.
When displayed in Form Designer they are not visible.
You can edit the record manually and save and then see them in the form, and then recompile, but this is risky.
From memory, the last time this happened I selected the controls (using the tab key), and cut/pasted properly.
I hope this gives a possible solution/reason, but others may have alternatives.

Colin,
The form was relatively simple so it was easier for me to redo it than try to dither with the SYSREPOSWIN, etc. However, if I were to have spend days or weeks on this form, I would have cried and gotten my hands dirty.
Meanwhile, I am more curious on why this would even happen.
Maybe there is no explanation and that's where prayers are handy .
Thanks,
Ray
