A client has asked me to write a proposal for an implementation that would allow three plant sites to run their inventory applications on a single server. All three sites and the server would be connected via the client's WAN. The Citrix MetaFrame product looks like a possible solution.
I've researched past postings on this board and have read the RTI White Paper on installing OI on a Citrix server. Are there OI/Citrix installations running with an acceptable degree of reliability? Is this a viable solution?
The total number of users for all three plants will be 15 (five at each site).

Mark,
I have an OI application running (3.6.1, full development version) at a client site with 4 remote locations that dial into a centralized Citrix server running Citrix Winframe (vs. Metaframe which I believe is the 32 bit Citrix offering). OI is installed on a Novell server which is 'seen' by the Citrix server. I decided not to deploy the NLM or NT services. About 10 concurrent users max, lots of data entry and complex reporting and nary a problem. The only problem I have had is when one of the sites performs maintenance on the communications equipment without telling the users to log off first..:).
Anyway, feel free to call me to discuss or drop me a note with details to gsorbo@ziplink.net.

I once had high hopes of getting Arev and OpenInsight running on Citrix for our enterprise. My advice is: Hire someone with specific experience and references that has done it before, it is not trivial or easy. After a large cash outlay, our citrix server is only used for dial-in, typically short periods of use. When users on the LAN accessed it, I had to constantly babysit the server and clear hung connections. FWIW
