I have a client with Windows 95 stations with internetware, Novel 4.10 and Arev 3.x with NLM version 1.5. The CD server in a HP Surestore 7plus. They tried "PREFERRED SERVER" in the net.cfg. Any ideas, everytime they map to the CD Arev will not run.

Dave,
I don't have a great, detailed answer, but I know AREV keeps some hard-coded paths with drive letters in various places (look at SYSENV records, for example). Perhaps the mapping of a CD is overlaying a drive letter AREV wants to use? Can they map the CD using some "high" drive letter instead of the next available? Don't know if this helps, but thought I'd try anyway!

Various CD ROM servers have a crippled 2.2 server embedded in them. ARev's logon lock logic in incompatible with this type server since it will not respond to the locks.
Replacing the server or mapping after ARev is loaded are your options.

Jim, AREV bears no dedicated drive letters - anything you see is just a placeholder, or something an application programmer has added.
The change of letter probably won't work because the problem lies with the CD server's ability to handle record locking events as they pass across the network. They hit the CD server, and the fun begins…
