I have had a few problems with REVG under NT workstation 4.0 / NT server 4.0. Notably lack of performance. A 486/33 running Windows 3.11 is much faster (4 times) than a Pentium 166 running Windows NT workstation. Speaking purely on I/O tests here.

Any tips?

We have a few REVG apps that we run off of an NT server and it seems to run just fine. We have a dedicated 'DOS' disk, formatted in

FAT 16. Don't know if that makes a difference or not but it seems to run fine.

16 Bit programs seem to run a lot slower on NT 4.0 Server in general, even relative to NT 4.0 Workstation.

I don't know the exact technical reasons but I suspect it is a 'thunking' issue and taking much more stringent measures to protect memory as well a paging/swapfile issue. Look in Task Manager and notice how the NTVDM takes up a whopping 32MB vs the 3-4MB on Workstation.

NT Server probably has a much more stringent HAL than Workstation also which could account for slow I/O.

Are your RevG files on the same drive(s) as your NT Swap files?
