i am having problems displaying a multi-image bitmap in my list box.

The correct bitmap images come up, but they have no colour for some reason, only the black and a bit of grey shows up..

has anyone experienced this bofore? anyone know how to fix it?

Michael,

Have you ever used a paint program and emptied the paint bucket the wrong place? With the paint colour flooding the wrong parts of your picture? What you see is similar to that.

It's a known problem. See this posting by Carl Pates at Sprezzatura: .

The simple solution is - as I mention later in that thread: Make the upper left pixel of your bitmap black. Just that one pixel. That will stop the flooding.

Of course now your first image will have a black pixel in its upper left corner. You might not want that. The workaround (which I got from Carl later) is simply not to use the first image. E.g if you need three images for you list box, let your bitmap have four images and always use image n+1 instead of n. See?

Ah - I remember this one. You can also surround the picture, with a black border, that need not be rectangular in shape. Assuming that it is an icon of some type, this generally looks fine.
