Hi All,

For ages now I have been having system delimeters @vm @svm etc displayed as a solid block in system editor instead of

which I used to see…

It's starting to annoy me now as it's not easy to see what delimiter they are, and I want my

back again!

Anyone know how? (OI version 4.1.3)

Regards,

Richard,

From the View menu, select No Delimiters from the Minimum Delimiter Value submenu.

This needs to be done each time you enter the Editor. This should also be done prior to opening any records.

Richard,

Here's something that may interest you. We're using the SRP Editor. It really is quite nice. Fast, easy to use, and lots of productivity features. If this works okay, here's a screen shot. If you have more questions on this, feel free to e-mail me. Better yet talk to Don Bakke. He is most helpful.

Why does this have to be done each time in the editor. Why can't it be a preference?

hopefully you got it cheaper then they mentioned at the show.

I agree that it does have some nice features .. but for the price it was out of my league.

Dave,

It's not freeware, but it works. In my opinion, our investment has been worth it. It's so cool to look at a record and corrolate it to the data dictionary (no flipping back and forth between the data dictionary or listing). I put the cursor on line 41 and it tells me what item I am looking at. I love how I can just bookmark my code and just hit F2 and toggle back and forward between sections of my code as I'm debugging. With my poor eyesight, I like having all my Labels with a dark color backgroup. Plus I can just jump to any label with a click. No doubt I find the active line hightlighed really super. What is also really neat is that you can color code your different COMMENTS. For example, you can tell the editor to make:

* "red - for remmed out code"

"green - for simple descriptions" /* "purple for block comments preceding some function ! "orange for test code" Belive me the different color has help me see a missing "*/" in a "/*". With the different color it is very obvious. Oh yeah, I also like the fact that when I close the editor down it automatically reloads all the programs that I'm working on and even remembers what line I was on. What a time saver . You gotta like the Tabs. Very cool. Lastly, the editor has a scratch pad area. There are 10 slots. You can store frequently used code in each slot and paste them into your program when you need to. I had to make some real changes in several hundred programs and with the scratch pad area it was super fast to do (e.g., Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2, etc.) Oh yeah the only reason I initially responded was because about showing the delimiter and the SRP Editor does this very easily and you don't have to do anything. It's automatic. You know me. FWIW, I think that if you gave it a try that you too would become attached. I think you find that it would make you "happier". I know I am . I'm afraid that that maybe you shouldn't try it as I doubt that you will be able to give it up . This discussion remind me of the very old days when people would debate "WILBUR" vs some other text editor. Talk to you later my friend, Ray P.S. Oh yes it also has a command line and you can save your program to the command prompt very easily. I have use this feature several times. Enough I must get back to some code writing. </QUOTE> —- === At 22 JAN 2005 03:50AM Donald Bakke wrote: === <QUOTE>Dave, I believe Ray didn't comment on what he paid out of respect toward us. He did receive a discount but this was because he has also purchased other products from us and our policy is to offer a discount to "repeat" customers (and this was promoted at the show as well.) Only you can really quantify if a tool has enough value. We believe the editor, by design, is a real productivity tool. That is, it pays for itself when it is used regularly. It wasn't intended to just look nice and do nice tricks (although that is also true) but we continue to put in features that we find ourselves regularly wishing we could do in order to make our jobs as programmers as productive as possible. Oh well, I didn't want this to be a commercial (it's not the place for it) but it was too hard not to respond to your comments about price. I could live without S/List if I had to, but I know that using it saves me time which saves me money and I get great results. Like Revelation Software, we like to keep this as one of the best known secrets out there… Not really, we have just been slow getting this utility published. Shame on us, of course, but we've just been too busy creating our utilities and haven't put any effort into "marketing" them. As you probably saw, we also put some time into redesigning our website and we are just now working on adding the content to promote more tools, freeware, and white papers. The SRP Editor is one of the next projects to get online. Until that happens, we can take this offline if you like.
