FS472 et al (AREV Specific)

Lots of problems with FS472 and REVMEDIA open errors on one (of 12) sites. Tried all of the remedies re frame types, client settings
etc to no avail.
The illogical remedy? (discovered by accident) was to unload the NLM's, then everything appeared to run properly!
The fact it can run at all under these circumstances is difficult to understand and, what risk is involved?
Can anyone shed any light? It doesn't make any sense to me and my brain hurts.

Paul,
If you mean that you've unloaded the Revelation NLMs, then the ramifications are that….they won't do anything, and the you'll set yourself up to the same risks as not having the Revelation NLMs.
The FS472 is almost always a frame type issue, and if not that, then an incompatible Novell Client32 issue. I would search on both of these topics on our site based on your client/server environment and I'm sure you'll find something that will help.

Thanx Stephen
Do I understand correctly that unloading the LH.NLM etc you would expect AREV to still run?

Paul,
Yes, that is true. Like I said, try searching the site for the multitude of FS472 postings out there. In general, in order to run the NLM successfully with ARev you need:
1) IPX/Adv. NetWare driver within ARev
2) LHIPXTSR.EXE running
3) LH.NLM and LHIPXSER.NLM running on server
4) REVPARAM file contains the 'ServerOnly=1' line to it.
As a sidenote:
When everything seems to run correctly, you should see a string of six consecutive F's (FFFFFF) on the 5th line of the record displayed upon typing 'EDIT FILES VOC' from the TCL within ARev (FILES is SYSTABLES in ARev 3.x versions). If you see this, everything is ready to go, BUT YOU NEED REVPARAM set as in #4 above to actually use the NLMs.
