I have 1 pc running latest 3.3 Client32 on Novell 4.11, win98pc. When printing from 3.12 AREV, print job takes upto 30 seconds to start printing. Any quick things to look for to get this to go faster?

Thanks

Several things we'd inspect under AREV, Windows and the client:-

(a) You have the write behind caching activated on the workstation

(Right-click on 'My Computer' and examine the Win 98 filing system 'Performance' options and UNcheck (disable) "Enable write-behind caching on all drives")

(b) You have "True Commit" disabled in the Novell client settings.

Enable this (if present in your Client properties)

© You have write-behind caching enabled in the Novell client settings. Disable this (if present in your Client properties).

(d) Your AREV shortcut from the desktop should not be "exclusive in foreground" and Idle sensitivity should be about half way (if these are present in your Windows version).

(e) You need to set the "Yield time to Windows" feature=Yes" from the AREV SYSPROG account

(f) You may need to adjust your printer driver settings - on HP printers sometimes we need to set RAW output to get it to behave.

(g) Ensure TTS is not enabled in your 4.11 Novell system.

(h) Set the "printer capture" timeout within the Novell client to 5 seconds. Optionally, try 10 seconds or 0 seconds. Sometimes an ENDCAP or a CAPTURE / E or a PDISK PRN is necessary at end of job to close the printer spool file, thus releasing it to the printer to begin printing. There are available workable $CAPTURE and $ENDCAP AREV objects for use at the start/finish of your AREV reports (or from TCL).
