We used to display a flashy bitmap in place of OILOGON.BMP, but now we use a VB launcher to execute OINSIGHT.EXE.

I want to turn off the logon banner and have specified this in the Application Properties… but it still appears.

To work around this I have replaced OILOGON.BMP with a small 1 pixel white bmp, which is very small at 66 bytes.

This is something I could live with, ie a small dot appearing for a few seconds, but is there any way I can really turn it off?

Thanks

Colin

Why not use a transparent bitmap .. very small. I don't think you can avoid the logo, but that would make it invisible.

Don,

How would one create a transparent bitmap? I didn't think the .BMP format supported such a beast. Even if it did, I don't think OI will correctly display the transparency since it can't do it for .GIF files.

Don .. do you want me to send you a file "TRANSPARENT.BMP" that I use in my OI app? It seems to work just fine for me.

Colin,

Earlier we have had to reduce our 16.7M colour bitmaps to 256 colours to get a satisfactory result. (At least I did; I think I adviced you to do so too.) And now we want 0 colours? What next?

Hi Don,

I received the file. Isn't this the same one that comes with OI?

Anyway, this is not a truly transparent .BMP. It's a monochrome image with a single white pixel. When I use this as my logon banner I can see the white pixel (surrounded by a black outline that OI adds.) When I add it to a form it appears white.

Your instructions in the email explained how to use it for making pushbuttons. That may work well and good, but the .BMP isn't helpful for Colin's issue. I thought you said that you were able to use this .BMP successfully has a logon banner. Can you confirm this?

Thanks,

Why not just display it on your screen, get some fine sandpaper or steel wool and sand it lightly until you can see through it. Then save your work?
