Does anyone know how to eliminate the 1 minute delay between the time an Arev printing program has finished and the time its print job actually appears on a Windows 2000 Server printer? My customer has just changed server platforms from Novell and they find the wait intolerable.

Check the Windows shortcut to AREV.EXE Misc Tab enables background processing (ie. not exclusive in foreground). Idle sensitivity at 50%-60%.

What version of AREV? If it's 3.12 then in the SYSPROG account enable "Yield Time to Windows".

A PDISK PRN (S) at the end of the report may flush the job out for you. Others have used PERFORM "SUSPEND EXIT NUL.BAT"

If it's still a drama despite these steps or the client isn't on 3.12 CPUPLUS may be an option.

Thanks Steve. The PDISK command did the job…but I will have add it to every program that prints. I tried running it as a "CLOSE" command in the printer definition instead, but it didn't seem like it was being run at all. Does the "CLOSE" command get run every time the printer is used?
