USER IS RUNNING WIN95 W/STNS ON AN NT LAN.

IS ALSO RUNNING AREV 3.1X AND HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING GFE's IN INDEX FILES. NPP HAS NOW BEEN INSTALLED AND ONLY ONE SUCH GFE SINCE THEN BUT USERS CLAIM SYSTEM IS NOW SLOWER IN UPDATES AND SELECTS THAN BEFORE INSTALLING NPP.

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE AS TO POSSIBLE CAUSES OF PERFORMANCE DROP.

The NPP is slower because it is a universal network driver and not optimized towards any particular NOS. If you want real performance with the same protection of the NPP then get the NT Service.

It's also slower since it has to do end-loops around the caching MS placed in both products. It's this caching that causes the GFE's.
