Crash when rebuilding indexes (AREV Specific)

One of our clients is now having trouble rebuilding indexes (doing it the manual "from scratch" way) in a table. It always gets to about 39% and then either freezes (if in DOS) or Windows '95 shuts it down with an error message.
I've run VerifyLH, Fixvol, scanned for all delimiters, checked column lengths, etc, etc, and nothing comes up.
I have moved these tables to my machine and there are no problems. So I'm wondering if it might be their machines. They are using newer model Compaqs and they can duplicate the problem on all of them.
Any ideas? Thanks.

If I had to nominate 1 manufacturer for services to the "let's make AREV fail" it'd be Compaq - ironic considering their World Class Demand and Supply system for parts runs/ran? on AREV…
Probably something to do with their handling of expanded memory. Try the rebuild with a /O

I forgot to mention that these machines originally didn't have expanded memory available (NOEMS flag was set). Not having expanded memory was my first thought so I removed the NOEMS flag but came up with the same results.
I'm having them try it on another machine in the office that isn't Compaq so we'll see what happens.
Thanks,

Well they moved the application to an HP workstation and get identical results. So that seems to rule out Compaq as the problem. I'm having them investigate if there are any other similarities between these workstations (like anti-virus software, etc.) to see if that may be it…but I'm starting to suspect AREV itself, at least their copy of AREV.
I will be picking up a backup of their app to be installed directly on my machine to see if the problem can be duplicated.
The message that does come up says something similar to "The MS-DOS application has performed an illegal operation…" Would this likely be related to problems in the data or perhaps a system routine has been corrupted somehow?
Thanks again,

That seems to imply an assembler routine - so probably in this context IDX_SETS.
Is their version the same as yours?

Yes their version is the same as mine (3.12).
I was waiting to get final confirmation from them, but I think I found out the problem. They are using an older version of the NPP (even though this is a single user app) so I changed it to non-network and everything worked fine for me. I left them a message late Friday on what to do so I'll suppose on Monday I will hear whether that solves the problem or not.
Your input was greatly appreciated.
