Client has a Windows Workgroups 3.11 server with Workgroups clients and a couple of Win 95 clients.

A new 95 machine was installed onto the network.

We cannot get access to AREV from this 95 machine.

The network drive is mapped the same as a 95 client which works.

I can bring up a dos box, cd to the arev directory, see all the files, copy files into this directory, delete files in this directory, run another small program from this directory. When I type in AREV SYSPROG or any other valid user name, arev asks for a password, even though no passwords are installed. In other words, arev isn't recognising any valid user names from this workstation.

Access is ok from other workstations, just not this particular one. I have looked at network drive mappings, network drivers etc, can't see any obvious things.

Does anyone have any ideas why AREV can't see any valid usernames from this particular workstation?

Thanks,

Matthew Jones

Maybe the workstation/user doesn't have rights to read in the LH files or REVMEDIA file. If the system makes it that far, without giving other errors, it already knows what's there. Since it's finding an invalid user, it was able to open the file, but not read from it.
