AREV FILE IDENTITY (AREV Specific)

I have *many* large (5-10MB) files that show in my DOS directory, but cannot be found as OV or LK files using LISTVOLUME. They don't seem to be current, last modified date is 2-3 yrs ago. I'd like to clear them, but is there any safe way of knowing what they are? I've edited the files and have a general idea of the data, but can't seem to find any naming info.
At the other end of the scale, I have lots of 0 size files. They aren't such a big issue, but my backup is taking forever. I'm using AREV 3.12 on a novell network. Any ideas?

These are what we call "orphans" - files without a place to belong. They are probably artifacts of table copies where someone hasn't had correct Netware deletion rights, or where their workstation memory has been low and a gfe fix crashed out.
NDIR /A might show who they belonged to (although you've edited them, so it will be yourself as owner in most cases).
If the file doesn't appear in the revmedia map, XCOPY the file to a separate subdirectory under AREV. If you need it, you can put it back.
If after a week no-one misses it, then you can zip it up, and delete it in another few months. My rdir.com utility may help here to list the media map from DOS. Remember that what's attached (LISTFILES) may not be what is present on the Volume (LISTMEDIA).
As to the zero byte files taking time to back up, well you haven't much choice about this.
