We are converting our production Arev programs to OI 3.7, and have 2 full development systems on 2 separate servers connected with a T1 line, both with separate NLM's (v1.5). The data is kept on the main server, and I want the server running the second full development system of OI to be kept in synch as development occurs. That is, as forms, event code, popups, messages, etc. are written, I want them copied to the second server. In Arev, I would have written a MFS to do this, but now I have to deal with two repositories. How do I keep them in synch?

There are many potential ways. One is to write an MFS. another is to physically copy the DOS files at close of business, another is to generate an RDK partial upgrade etc etc.

Additionally, you can do check-outs from one repository to another. Really.

Really? If it was only me, that's just what I'd do, but there are other developers hacking- excuse me, programming and making changes to the system. I'm looking for an automated solution.

As for writing an MFS, that is the first thing I'm considering. However, I would be making updates to the repository on another system, would that cause problems? I am thinking of the repository indexes, I suppose I could rebuild them each time I need to look at that system.

As for copying the DOS files, I don't think so. I can't guarantee that all the users would be off the system. (We run 7/24)

As for an RDK partial upgrade, I know I've seen something on that, but since we don't deploy any runtimes any more, I haven't kept up on that. Where are the docs for it, what (generally) is involved?

Thanks!

I have decided to use the "Deploy Applications" option to update the second site, and have deployed the full application, but my structure definitions as defined by DEFINE_STRUCT did not transfer. I can see them in the source system outline under Application Rows as SYSOBJ:STRUCT_DCB (with others), and have created a repository view that includes them, and have even run the RDKINSTALL on the destination. I can then see the structures in the destination outline, but they are still unknown to the system. I even tried to manually update SYSOBJ, !STRUCT, which then showed them in the dropdown list, but did not allow them to load. Any ideas?
