Can't find Reporter executable (OpenInsight Specific)

Just installed an eval copy of OI 3.5. Going through the tutorial and everything is working fine so far.
Got to the lesson on creating reports. Clicked the Revelation Reporter button on the Application Manager side tool bar, and got the message "Unable to find the Revelation Reporter executable."
Installed to C:\OI instead of the default. Is this the problem? All the other features seem to work at this point. Thanks.

Jim,
If you look in your directory do you see the reporter.exe file?

Yes, the reporter.exe file is in my OI directory. Thanks for any other ideas.

Jim,
If you are running it from a shortcut make sure that all of the path options point to the oi directory. I did install the eval copy to c:\oi and it worked fine. If you type from the run menu in windows c:\oi\reporter.exe /ap=sysprog /un=sysprog does it run. ap is for app name and un is for username. If these ideas don't work you may just want to run through the install again.

I'll see this error if the reporter is being run on a station other than that which installed the product and the client install was not run.
So, if you didn't install OI on this workstaion, try running the client install.

When I tried to just open REPORTER.EXE from Explorer, I got a more meaningful error message, indicating that MFCOLEUI.DLL could not be found. Sure enough, it wasn't there.
Couldn't find it in any of the .CAB files on the Win95 CD. A search of the web suggested this is a common problem with some other software packages (appears to be 16-bit problem only), and found it for downloading. With this file in the SYSTEM folder, REPORTER.EXE works fine.
Don't know why this was missing on this workstation. Anyway, seems strange that the error message from OI indicated that REPORTER.EXE was not there; somewhat misleading, no?
Thanks for the reponses; I really appreciate the "pitch-in" attitude of this discussion forum.

We provide an installation program that installs the shared files (such as the OLE and MFC runtime libraries for the Reporter). It is called the "Client Install". Since you installed the entire OI product (albeit an eval copy) these files should have been installed, unless to cut down on the size of the download the client install portion was removed from the eval.
At any rate, on the OI Works CD, there is a directory called "Client" that contains an install that resolves the issue you reported.

A rather misleading message, yes. The operating system's failure to resolve DLL import dependencies (e.g. because the needed DLL's aren't there) results in the same error as if the EXE were not there at all.
