I am installing the Netware NLM(v1.5) in the following environment:

AREV 2.03

Netware 4.1

WIN95 & NT Workstations

The following worked OK:

AREV Upgrade from 1.12 to 2.03
Made changes to my application in 2.03(only 1 dedicated user
                                        used the data files)
Installed the AREV with the network driver and activated it:
        IPX/ADVANCED NETWARE 2.1+ DRV. 1.5
 Installed the LH.NLM & LHIPXSER.NLM
 Loaded the LH.NLM & LHIPXSER.NLM
Changed the SYSTEM.INI as suggested in the documentation
Loaded the TSR LHIPXTSR on the workstation before AREV starts

When I executed AREV the following message appears:

Linear Hash IPX Driver - REVMEDIA Open Error: FS472
Unable to open boot media map.
   ...AREV then stops

When I unload the TSR and execute AREV I get the following message:

The liner hash cliend/server tsr is not installed
   check your workstations configuration

I am able to execute AREV INSTALL /X .and. AREV BUMP, but I do

get the warning message that I should use only local files

I would appreciate any help on solving this problem.

Sam,

Have you made sure that your network frametypes in your control panel match that of your server? This error is commonly due to this mismatch. Win95/NT's defaults your frametype setting as auto, which can lead to an incorrect selection due to the way Win95/NT works with a DOS program like ARev.

Another suggestion, based on your statement that you receive a WARNING message telling you to only use local files, is to make sure that your REVPARAM. (← no extension) file is in all directories and sub-directories that contain *.ov or *.lk files. This is explained in the NLM installation guide under "Tips and Troubleshooting" pg. 22, #2, and pg. 24 #10. Make sure that your REVPARAM file is set at: ServerOnly=1, which tells the network to access the server's files.

One last thing, what client are you using to connect to your Novell network?
